With Hank Jr., the band needs to know over 200 songs that he might play. There isn't enough time to play all of them at a concert. The set list is a starting point, for him to deviate from. He'll play what he feels and the band has to follow. The acoustic part of the show (where Hank is alone playing guitar & dobro) is a personal tapestery of tunes & medley's that he weaves togeather each night. All from that vast cataloge of songs that he has played since he was 8 years old. GO BOCEPHUS!!

I know people who have actually seen Hank give signals to the band what he was going to play next. Hank said once that a setlist to him was just a suggestion, that's why some of his shows are hour and a half some are longer. I think a lot has to do with the audience too. If Hank feels the audience is really into it, he plays longer because he is having a good time. I guess that's why he most usually does his best shows in the South where he feels at home.

I agree that the rowdier the crowd the better the Hank...my last show to see him was last year in Shreveport at one of the casinos...you could tell that most of the audience was simply gamblers who got free tix...nobody was yelling, standing, singing, clapping or giving Hank any feedback...though i enjoyed seeing THE MAN onstage (and always will) this was not his best and all blame rests fully on those no account/no hank fans/sitting on their hands folks up front.

Very simple: What Hank plays on any given night will be the setlist for said night. There may be a preconceived list for the band to go by, but since most artists deviate more or less from that, it most likely will not end up being the setlist from that particular show. If Hank's management will be posting the setlists here after each show, that'd be great. I don't know if that is the idea, but I hope so. Bob Dylan's management does that on his site, for example. Also, a lot of fans call them in to various fan sites. Because naturally you'd wanna know what your favorite musician played the night before.

I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT JR.DOES NOT WRITE A SET LIST. HE WILL CONSIDER A SONG THAT HE WANTS TO PLAY THAT NIGHT OR TRY OUT A NEW ONE AT SOUND CHECK AND HE WILL GIVE THE BAND A SIGNAL OF A CORD CHANGE. ;get
