There are a couple posts about meeting Hank and Waylon. What other people have you meet that could be considered "stars"

I meet George Jones and got to talk to him about 10 yrs ago on a farm in Columbia TN. I had went up there to pickup a truck my dad bought and George came up to buy a old horse drawn plow the man had.

Boxcar Willie walked into a waffle house in Jackson TN one night while me and my uncle were there. Nobody in the place recognized him except my uncle, he was a huge fan of his, anyway we talked with him for the whole time we ate.

Then four yrs ago Charlie Daniels done a concert at the fair in the county I live in and he stayed at the Best Western where my wife works. So we went over after the concert and waited for him to come in. He acted just like a normal person, was laughing and cutting up with everyone.

This past summer Sherman Hemsley and Betty White done a movie in town and stayed there for about 3 or 4 weeks. I got to talk to Mr. Hemsley several times and he ended up buying a picture of himself from me. I made it and didn't charge him so he promised to invite me to the opening of the movie as his guest

A few yrs ago I was working for a pest control company and went to spray a house in Hunstville AL. Dolly Parton was there sitting with some other people by the pool. Didn't get to talk with her but I waved and she waved back.

Those are some pretty interesting meetings, man. I haven't met very many famous folks. I saw Vince Gill inside Jack's BBQ once (in Nashville). He was in-between shows at the Ryman and he walked out back for a BBQ plate. He realized that I recognized him and he gave me a look that said, "Oh, God. Please don't be a crazy stalker, or something. I really just want to eat my dinner in peace."  So, I never even approached him, but we ate dinner just 10 feet from each other.

Archie Manning
A bunch of the old Wrestlers. They use to play near my home town every Sat night.
Troy Gentry & his wife at the Cmt Outlaw concert
Big and Rich w/ Cowboy Troy at Coyote Ugly in Nashville
Britney Spears' mom, dad, sister and uncle. I guess her sister would be the famous one
Billy Currington at the race here a couple years ago.
Crystal Gayle at her store
Loretta Lynn at her ranch in Hurricane Mills.

I had a chance to meet Hank years ago, and turned it down because I thought it was a joke.I regret it all the time now.

I met Merle Kilgore back in the mid 90's when Hank did a show in Fort Smith, AR. We got there early and Merle came out to check something out about the sound equipment. He was really nice.

My dad got invited to Vern Goslens house and enjoyed himself in the 80's. When he got there he also got to meet the Judds.

Well, as I said in another thread, I met Garth Brooks back in the mid-nineties and spoke with him for 10 minutes or so.

I have met some of the old-school pro wrestlers back in the 80s- Jimmy Boogie Woogie Man Valiant, Nikita Koloff, Stan The Lariat Hansen, and a few others.

Finally, and I'm not sure if this counts as a meeting, but I have interviewed many country singers over the telephone. Let's see, there was Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt, Rascal Flatts, Julie Roberts, John Conlee, Little Texas, Joe Diffie. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The only person(s) I have met is Charlie Daniels and CDB at a Meet and Great for fanclub members backstage I think it was in 2000. Hank was going on stage right after Charlie was coming off stage, but I was not close to Hank eventhough I saw him. So I can't count that as a meeting experience.

With Charlie though I got an autographed 8x10 picture to me from him. And an autographed concert shirt that I wore out. :-(

Can't recall every meetin' anybody famous, except maybe Donald Rumsfeld once, but that's about it. Did speak to Charlie Daniels after a concert, but didn't get to shake his hand, so I don't call it a real meet.

I had a beer onetime with the great blues man "Muddy Waters" during an intermission that he had at a concert that I was at. Not too long after that I was at a show, and during an intermission I went to the mens room, and while standing there "taking care of buisness", who walked up to the next urinal, was John Lee Hooker...another fantastic blues man!...was a little reluctant to say anything, but blurted out.. "Hows it goin'?.. He just looked at me and said.."Hell, its goin' great"...."Gotta get rid of a beer ya know"... :D
Of course one of my Greatest encounters was with Brother Waylon :D  ...My next BIG step is coming in June! :D

I've met Merle Kilgore several times too. When Hank had Hank's Montana Exchange in Cullman. Even before that I met him and JR on Christmas at the Fan Club - or what was the fan club before Hank's Montana Exchange. I was around 9 or 10 years old but JR has just been to Christmas dinner with Hank & Becky... Pretty amazing.,

Yes, I missed the most important one. I came close though. :D

I'm a big fan of country music. Although, I don't have any connections, I did manage to meet a few. I used to go to Fan Fair In Nashville. I've prolly been about 12 or 13 times. You can go there, the artist have booths set up, and you can wait in lines to meet them. The key is to meet the artist when they are relatively new, otherwise, you will wait all day to meet one artist. Plus once the artist are well established, they normally quit attending. Most of them I have met there, a few others here and there, at concerts. I haven't been in about 10 years though, I'm sure a lot has changed. It's a good trip, there also used to be an award show, that I've attended, and outdoor concerts at the event during the day. At night there were large concerts at the grand ole opry house. I'm thinking about going again next year. :D

Man, that Bob Baumhower sure can make some good chicken wings. Not as good as the ones from On Tap, but pretty dern good.

Ok, let's see here. Not too many.

-Robert Redford
-John McCain
-Don Sundquist (Tn Governor)
-Phil Bredesen (Tn Governor)
-Just about everyone in the TN General Assembly from when I worked there and some are now Congressmen
-Porter Waggoner
-Goober
-Ralph Stanley
-Noel Haggard ( I know, I'm reaching here)
-The guy who wrote That Old Wheel
-Robinella (she used to place my hangout before she hit it big)
-Also, any big Church of Christ in Nashville - had I wanted to I could have met Marty Stuart, Sonny James, Lee Roy Parnell, but I let them attend church in peace
- My dorm room was the same one that Marty Roe lived in when he was in college
- My grandparents' neighbor is Albert Haynesworth who is every bit a prick off the field that he is on the field. Ask me about the huge freak playing chicken with me on his motorcycle while I was getting the mail. Ok, I guess you don't have to ask because I just told you.
- I also could have spoken to Liz Allison (Davey's widow) when she came in to pick up a pizza while I was hanging out with the guy working there, but I noticed that Joe Diffie was out in the car with Davey's kids, and I had heard that they had taken up together and this was just months after Davey had died, and this chapped my butt so I ignored her.
- I sat next to a whole assortment of singers when I was a seat filler at the first CMT awards back in 2002. I used to think it was cool that Natalie Maines and I were the first to figure out that ZZ Top was on stage with Brooks and Dunn, but now that story sucks

I had a really good experience at the show. Whoever's seat I was filling never showed up so I never had to move the whole time. I was across from Allison Krauss and the Dixie Chicks and next to that blond chick with the fake bongos from that group with the dude named or Ira or somesuch. There was a video producer or something like that who was nominated for an award who sat behind me so I'm told I was on tv the whole time they had his face on screen and the hostess did a monologue standing beside me so I was apparently on tv a long time then too. I would rather not ever be on tv, but it was fun anyway. Even if it was called something stupid like the Flameworthy Awards.

Hey you got some pretty good TV exposure there. Your talking about Heidi Newfield of "Trick Pony". She actually left the group late last year. The one that I would have loved to meet out of those would be Alllison Krauss. She's very talented, and such a cool person from what I gather. I would love to meet her. Anyhow, I've been to those awards 2 or 3 times. I wasn't quite as lucky as you though. That's a cool story! :D
