Seems the federal government is suing the state of Arizona over its brand spankin' new immigration law.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/06/justice-department-file-suit-arizona-early-tuesday/
Quoth (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/06/justice-department-file-suit-arizona-early-tuesday/Quoth) the chief law enforcement officer in the land, Attorney General Eric "America is a nation of cowards" (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/18/holder.race.relations/index.html) Holder, "diverting federal resources away from dangerous aliens such as terrorism suspects and aliens with criminal records will impact the entire country's safety."
So you're basically telling Arizona "we don't care that the illegal aliens crossing into your state are wrecking havoc, spreading hate and discontent, and generally causing the downfall of your state societal structure, we're focused on the real threat," huh, AG?
Feckless crapweasels, all of them.
Secure the border!

I know exactly where I stand on this issue. Yet, I am having trouble expressing my comment because I don't friggin' KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN! ;shame ;insane
Getting back to the basics--- The Federal Government is supposed to work in the interest of all the States. Show me one State that has complained about Arizona's law. It's not as though Florida, Kansas, and Maine have started a petition to sue Arizona. :? In fact, other States probably wish they had a similar law. So, it's clear that the Federal Gov't is NOT doing this in the interest of the other states. So, my very thoughtful question is.... WTF? ;scr
But, hey...... Who am I to speak. We fought a war over States' rights, and we lost. But can anybody tell me who won, exactly?

I meant to include the whole "this is getting back to states' rights" angle in there, but forgot in my haste to call anyone associated with the Obama Administration a feckless crapweasel (I do love using that term).
But it is a states' rights issue to its very core. And, I believe, it is one that should be addressed.
Do states have the rights to secure their borders from illegal invasion?
Because that's what this is, when you get down to the nuts and bolts of things. I'm not trying to go all conspiracy theory on y'all here, I'm just stating an honest fact. When somebody come uninvited into your house, it's a home invasion. When the armies of one sovereign nation traverse into the lands of another sovereign nation (without the consent of the second party, that is), it's a military invasion. It is no stretch, then, to say that aliens (of the terrestrial variety) venturing illegally into Arizona (or any other state in the Union) is, indeed, an invasion.
Aliens of the extraterrestrial variety are also unwelcome, but that's a different story. As far as I'm concerned, E.T. and Pablo can both go home.
Would it not be the duty of any state that was invaded by, say, the Japanese in WWII to do all that it can to repel those invaders? And if they were an insidious bunch that sought to integrate themselves with the local populace, would we not then be actively looking for them and ousting them from our country?
I'm not saying everybody coming from Mexico to the U.S. illegally has some nefarious scheme to overthrow the government or incite war and havoc amongst our people. But they're here illegally, dammit. It's against the freakin' law. Go back where you came from (as the liberals want the Jews over in Israel to do...well, at least Helen Thomas does).
Gah. Morons. We're surrounded by them.

Thomas Jefferson said, "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
I think it’s clear that our federal government’s laws and regulations are creeping into our lives to the point that we are no longer a happy people. We are over taxed and the government continues to waste OUR money all in the name of ACTING on behalf of the people!!!
Between the federal government forcing health care, suing Arizona, and trying to take our guns, it's clear that it's time for the people (states) to take back their sovereignty protected by the Constitution.
I recently read that over the past year, 38 states have introduced resolutions to reaffirm the principles of sovereignty under the Constitution and the 10th Amendment. The state sovereignty resolutions are "intended to be a statement to demand that the federal government halt its practices of assuming powers and imposing mandates upon the states for purposes not enumerated by the Constitution of the United States of America."
I think we are going to start seeing more legal battles over states rights. To quote Thomas Jefferson again, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Let’s hope

Larry Gatlin weighs in on the Arizona/illegal immigration debate. (http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2010/07/07/larry-gatlin-arizona-california-mexico-border-texas-immigration-illegal-aliens/#content)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is THAT Larry Gatlin. I've seen him on Fox News before.

This is really weird. I dreamed about that song last night, and woke up singing it this morning. Spooky.
He seems pretty fired up about it, and he makes a good point. Things like this are best handled locally, by the people who have to live there. Also, did you notice the part where he said this is his new position (writing commentaries for Fox News). ;rock So, maybe we will see more from him.

Like I said, I saw him on Fox News recently. Once I know was when he was on Sean Hannity's Great American Panel, and I think another time him and the Gatlin Brothers were part of the Fox Summer Concert Series (they have a lot of country musicians on there, even Hank once).
I think he's spot on.
